*New DAVID Version*
=====================
Dear Friends,

We proudly present DAVID 3.5 - the best DAVID ever! ;-)

In the last months we have been busy implementing some great improvements:

*Color texturing* for SL scanners even with monochrome cameras, like the SLS-1. Real color, no tricks! It also performs white balancing, so you will get realistic colors on your 3D models.
These textures have been captured with a monochrome camera:

and here:

We have improved projector calibration, reducing distortions and making Structured Light scans *more precise* than ever.
Also DAVID now offers a very effective *Noise Reduction* option. Don't worry, it does not smooth away any details, however it comes at the cost of a slightly longer scanning time.

In Shapefusion, the *precision and speed of scan alignment* has also been improved. This makes it easier to obtain perfectly aligned scans and thus better fusion results.

We have included *multi-language support* in DAVID. English and German are already built in, and more languages will come in the next versions.

... and much more, like simplified use, some small bug fixes...

So please update to DAVID 3.5! As always, updating from any 3.x version to 3.5 is *free*.

Of course DAVID 3.5 is included in our SLS-1.

*3D Printers from A1 Technologies*
====================================
Today we would like to introduce our reseller A1 Technologies from the UK, with whom we have had a long term cooperation for 3 years now. A1 Technologies is a well known manufacturer for 3D printers and software, which fits perfectly with our 3D scanners.
Also A1 shares our 'great value for money' vision: Their brand new Maxit 3D printer costs even less than our SLS-1 scanner.
The Maxit is the first 3D printer specifically designed for education. However, its characteristics make it ideal for all other users as well. You can see the 3D printer on their website http://www.a1-tech.co.uk/welcome-david-customers and on their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/A1-Technologies/277716042263183.
A1's products include as well the Studiomill, a 3D 5-axis CNC mill, and the Chameleon, a 3D creative design package with a haptic mouse.
This image shows these scanners and some results: http://www.david-laserscanner.com/gfx/newsletter_content/2012_10/A1_all_574x568.jpg

If you are planning to visit EuroMold, you will see the Maxit and the Chameleon on our stand!

*Showcase*

Nearly every day our users present new scan results in our forum. Most are really great, and they give a good impression of what's possible with DAVID - various sizes, various materials, various hardware components... Our User Gallery http://www.david-laserscanner.com/?section=Gallery&page=u1 is full with these impressive scans.

Today we would like to present an industrial application: A Structured Light scan of a heating valve by Frank Lehmann ("tube"):
http://www.david-laserscanner.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=24577#p24577

The valve has very fine surface details as well as large flat faces, and the scan perfectly shows them all.
The shiny object was covered with a coating spray to improve the scans.
Kudos, Frank!

Of course this is just one out of many, so please find many more great scan results in our User Gallery: http://www.david-laserscanner.com/?section=Gallery&page=u1

*With best wishes from the whole DAVID Team*
Have fun with DAVID 3.5!
