Hi Hal,
I've been reading through this forum section and have to say this setup is the best of all mentioned previously! Well done. I have one question though, From where could one download the calibration pannel layout / designs. It seams like they are no longer available and has been quite a whike since I last downloaded them (and after loast them somewhere). Could anyone shed some light and throw in the link from where I can download them.

... and if you mean the pattern as PDF or CDR files, they are included in the download of DAVID. You will find the files in your DAVID folder. And the 3d description is in Calibpoints.dat.

Hey Mattia,

Thanks for these posts. I made a larger prototype and it uses this sliding panels and box just like yours. I think it works well, but it's not so transportable. So, round 2 of the design phase means I will probably have to look at aluminum or steel tubing.

Hello,

Just un update about my calibration panels.
This time I've done something bigger than the previous structure. This new 90° angle is done for big objects.
The usable surfaces are 55 cm x 32,5 cm (21,67 x 12,81 inch), the thickness is of 2,5 cm (0,99 inch).
The corner was made with multi-layer wood (just to keep all light but stable).

Just to save the holes into the wood and keep all easy to assemble and dismantle, I've used special threaded metal bolts, glued at the bigger panels.
And only 6 screws are needed.

Hope this example could be usefull for other users.

Hello,

I have a question (did search the forum) concernig cam viewing angle.
If I take hals desing (Post by hal » Tue Sep 23, 2008 12:42 pm) in this thread, would it be a big influence on accuracy to position the viewing angle of the cam upwards, so the optical system (viewing line) would´t be right angular w.r.t. the calibration panels?
It would be easy to reach the minimun triangulation angle without having to mount the laser to far up (or down).

Why in general most of you use a right angled setup (cam - calibration patterns/plane) for scanning?

Hi Gerhard,
When you are now reading this lines, how is your monitor aligned? I think right-angled to have least distortions and best view.
