scanning

I am trying to scan the reflective surface of ice and try and get fragments of the internal spaces. Has anyone tried to scan ice before? Any suggestions I get a lot of error messages and it seems to only really do the surface. As the ice is transparent and there are some spaces inside I would like it to also go a bit deeper in. Any suggestions. Thanks. Maya

Hi Maya,

You are correct that the laser captures the reflection of the surface. This is how "normal" laser scanning is achieved. It seems to me you are talking about scanning inside the ice. This calls for scanners like MRI, CAT and ultrasound. The lasers we use are not able to penetrate substances.
