Hello,

in parallel to the "Bike Model" scan project, now start an other "motorized" scanning test: a scaled model ( 1:18 ) of a sport car Lamborghini Reventon ( http://www.zercustoms.com/news/images/L ... nton-1.jpg ).

These scan tests are useful, for me, to test David with pieces of industrial design, symmetric, with small and problematic details, dark colors and shiny surface.

These are first images about it, only 9 scans.

Hi Mattia,

I'm ver new to scanning objects ... I just had one try with thefree software.
So therefore I have a few questions, how you get such good scan results:
- do you use also the free software version?
- or is it necessary to get the "Pro Edition" of David to get such accurate results?
- how do you move the laser and the object? do you have any motorized devices?

I would be very thankfull for any tricks and hints ...

Hello and welcome Lupo,

- I use the Pro Edition: is impossible to have the same result saving data into reduced mode, like in the free version. And without a licensed ShapeFusion, the save function is locked;
- I use a motorized devices for the laser movement.

but... if you are at the beginning of your steps with David, try to move the laser with a clock-timer. For a first test is enough. See here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=434&p=2016&hilit=clock+timer#p2016 .
Remeber that with a cheap web cam the 3d data survey can be very different from data obtained with a professional ccd camera.

I'm glad to have an other "Davidians" in this forum.

Hello,
Waiting the good time for a scan of real car, here below an image of a little model of car, scale 1:43, of an Italian FIAT 127.
I hope to start soon the scan of the my car http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_850 (my is dark red) and to finish the scanning of the 1:18 model of Lamborghini Reventon, started long time ago.
