The PIC µC was programmed in embedded C, using Microchips MPLAB.
The frame of this Setup was inspired by the "aufbau" video from http://youtube.com/user/sehertest , We made some adjustments so that it can run in a lighted room.
The Hardware is based on a PIC24 µC, (PIC24HJ128GP502)
an FTDI chip serial for communication with PC, (MM232RQ)
an RC servo for turning the laser,
a step motor for turning the scanned object using an A3967 step motor controller.
The whole rig is powered by a standard PC PSU,
It took about 8 weeks to complete.
We aren't using a webcam because we didn't have proper x64 drivers for it
