Newest 3D scan with material render

try out octanerender... theres a demo and the full version is not pricey... the mixing and node texture system is just easy to use. Ideal for complex and fast renders... (you will need at least a nvidia gtx 260 with CUDA 3 drivers installed, they will come with the latest drivers anyways)

is hard to scan black objects. Many of "pro" 3D scanners have problems to work on black and shiny surfaces. I know that the scanners that works with Structured Light see a little better the projected patterns on black surfaces (in comparison with scanners that works with low power lasers, like David). Maybe the new David 3, with the structured light implemented, could work better on dark objects.
But, please, forget to scan a black velvet surface! Coating will be a must for the best precision.

can you try a black object :0) ive noticed lots of the scanned models are white... other colours would be interesting to see any more or less artifacts

for this scans i used interpolation 1 cause i had some holes in the dark parts

i think the problem is not a black object. you can setup you settings to scan this.
But different colors for example the bird : brown/black yellow/red
when i use setting for black / brown i got much noise at the postions where
the object is yellow cause much more light will be reflected here btw black/brown absorbs more light.

mono colored object (white to black) without much glossy/shiny can be scanned with my setup.
multicolored glossy objects are difficault.

How do you map higher res textures... The only way ive done it is to make a 1920x1080 video from the 7d. Then double it up and encode it to 3840x 2160 (calibration and scanning video resolution). Then add a photo to the end of the scanning video of the object (5133 x 3456) rescaled to fit the video then use grab... Only way I can see DS being able to do it. Even at 1920x1080p the rescaled image is far sharper than the actual video file. Otherwise how do you map the texutre to such a complex object... any ideas
