My Planeless Setup (IP)-- and DPT DEVELOPER

Okay..My wings going bigger so want to fly a little higher.. My two setups are in Progress :
1- The arrangement for Plan-less scanning ( The Holllow Aluminium panel+Nuts/Bolts costed me 6 US Dollars)
2- My Turntable for 360 degree scan.

Both above will be completed by wednesday and i hope i will able to scan plan-less if i am Alive, if God with me and if the Gurus here continue helping me.. My eyes towards GUNTER, MATTIA, Walter and RAY...OOPPPSSS..Off-course Sven and SIMON ..O'crap I forget the other members..To all of You who watching my work

The third thing that i am very happy with is the Dye Penetrant Test DEVELOPER.. This developer is being used in industry to get weld defects.. It spray a very fine particles that are easily removable by hand.. You can see the shiny BUST at which i sprayed this Developer and i am loosing no details..Its simply excellent... Very dull...

Good setup

As I understand from pic Your laser movement system is heavy and you decided to put it down and cam up.

upper arm should be lock more tightly.

You may have elevation setting problem to have cam on center of calibration panel.

RAY.. Very nice judgement.. Offcourse my Laser Scanning setup is very heavy.. But I modeled the Aluminium Panel in such a way that I can keep the camera down to the laser as well as above the laser... I will drill some more holes in Vertical Aluminium extrusion so that for smaller object i near the CAM to the Laser..

I forsee vibrations (Minute) in the vertical bar during scanning that will be disasterous.. I am also making a special arrangment for Logetech CAM to be held tightly but variably in the holder.. You will see it by tomorrow... As far as the centering of calibration panel is concerned my Upper CAM holding ARM can be tilted and the camera can also be tilted...

I don`t think you get vibration on your laser movment setup because of using rubber belt ,but if you get some vibration on vertical bar that mean your construction frame setup has low strenght to carry all of your component
correctly ,this is because of not of your static design but ofcourse dynamic (during your system on).

Hi Ray,
The Aluminium Extrusion is very hard to twist and very hard to Bend with my BOTH HAND FORCE.. At that length it may have some resonance (God Forbid) if the frequency of Steppers matches with that of the natural frequency of the system.. and offcourse at the top i will get more deflection (vibration)...this may produce Noise (Motion Blurr) in my CAM ..consequently poor scan..

I wonder How the Gunter setup is working.... He has more spans as compare to my setup...

Your setup is very defferent if you compare it with Gunter setup.

Your component connection is not as him`s. your laser system is very heavy and massly ,and not any symmetrical design you used there.



you should start your vibration componsation at the base of your laser system which connected to tripod that is point contact I think not surface contact.
Add some rubber sheet.

Not worried about the bottom..because Tripod already have vibration dampener... I saw Mattia setup its very easy to handle and Light... I will check the CAR window motor and remove the gears from it..I think it will solve my problem..

Although my setup was not completed, However i managed to experiment the Reference and Repitition Scan.. These scans were carried out with very coarse resolution and big steps with my low-spec Desktop computer...Attached is the low-resolution save result and brought into shapefusion.. No Alignment done ..The scans are RAW scan with no interpolation and no median..

My REFERENCE SCAN stopped without going down and the DAVID shows some messages on the screen i do not remember..But when i did repetition scan the Whole CAM view comes under scan.. This is excellent and great thing..
Now i have to make mysetup low-weight and some robust...

Using CAR window motor or car snow wiper gears is good selection.

Today I made some changes to my setup, and i am extremely happy with it... Now i have just to get some Gear Motors from my SON car and make a small portable laser scanner... Offcourse with the help of my CNC Machine, I will make some Molds for it...

I seem crazy when just few months ago my setup was very basic and it was hard to belive to get the resullts like Mattia, Gunter, Walter and Greg..But after todays experimentation i am happy about my results too... Thanks to all of Guys and Gurus of the Forum for your help.

Changes in my setup brought good scan results.. Attached are the Low-resolution scan results in Shape-fusion...Total 03 scans...

I don't know why the two scans (Reference+Repetition) do not merge in each other.. This problem enhances when i do 360 degree scan and the final scan is out a little:(
