This menu allows you to grab a texture (color image) to be “laid over” your scan (laser or SL), so you get a colored 3D model.
Usually best textures are acquired under bright ambient light conditions. When you are SL scanning, you can also use the projector as a light source (“Projector Brightness” slider at the top).
You should adjust the camera image like you would for making a photo: Not too dark, not too bright, correct color settings.
DAVID remembers separate camera settings for camera calibration, scanning, and texturing. It switches between them as you navigate between the respective menus on the left. So you can set the camera in the Texturing mode as you wish; DAVID will restore the scan settings when you go back to the Laserscanning menu.
You should be careful to use the same camera and projector settings for SL scanning which were set during Projector Calibration. To be sure, never change them after Projector Calibration. By default DAVID does not change any camera settings by itself. The “Projector Brightness” however is remembered separately for camera calibration, scanning, and texturing, and DAVID switches between the settings as you navigate between the respective menus on the left.
So, if possible, for texturing you should adjust the Projector Brightness or room light rather than changing the camera settings. When you go back to SL scanning, DAVID will restore the projector settings.
