In 2.3.2, you have a new Advanced Settings value “ScanStartDetectionMode” in the Scanning Without Background group (Laserscanner→LaserPlaneCalculationLaserMotionEstimation). It is about the important question, at what moment in time does the laser motion start? DAVID needs to know this moment precisely, so the all “Repetition” laser motions (without background) can be synchronized precisely to the “Reference” scan. Of course the laser's start position must be equal each time.

Until 2.3, DAVID behaved always like in mode “1”: The beginning of the laser motion is AFTER the user has clicked Start, precisely at the moment when there is a laser line visible for the first time. Since you can now use the COM port to trigger the laser motion, it has become interesting to use mode 0: Start is when the user clicks “Start”. It is still important that in that moment, the laser motion starts immediately, and of course at the same start position during Reference and Repetition scan. The laser may however appear in the camera image later. This is useful e.g. when scanning objects of different size.
